Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 14, 2026

DoorGuard ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect when you use DoorGuard, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

1. What We Collect

We collect only the data needed to operate the platform:

  • Account information: name, email, phone number, role (client or trainer), city, and password (hashed; never stored in plain text).
  • Profile information: bio, profile photo, specialties, certifications, hourly rate, service area, and optional social links you choose to add.
  • Location data: the city/state you enter and, for the map view, an approximate latitude/longitude geocoded from that city. We do not continuously track your location.
  • Booking & session data: bookings, scheduled date/time, session address you provide, and the messages/notes attached to bookings.
  • Payment information: handled exclusively by Stripe. DoorGuard never sees or stores your full card number, CVV, or expiration date.
  • Usage data: standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) used for security and platform reliability.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • To create and operate your account.
  • To match clients with trainers, process bookings, and run sessions safely.
  • To process payments and payouts via Stripe.
  • To send transactional emails (booking confirmations, password resets, safety alerts).
  • To prevent fraud, abuse, and breach of our Terms.
  • To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

3. Payments, Handled by Stripe

All payments and trainer payouts are processed by Stripe, Inc., a PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant payment processor. Your card details are sent directly from your browser to Stripe and never touch DoorGuard's servers. Stripe's privacy practices are governed by their own policy at stripe.com/privacy.

4. We Do Not Sell Your Data

DoorGuard does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes. We share data only with: (a) Stripe (for payments); (b) infrastructure providers strictly needed to run the platform (hosting, email delivery); and (c) law enforcement when legally required.

5. Your Rights

You may, at any time:

  • Access the data we hold about you (request a copy via the email below).
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information directly in your profile.
  • Request permanent deletion of your account and associated data, subject to records we are required to keep by law (e.g., transaction records for tax/audit compliance).
  • Withdraw consent for non-essential communications at any time.

6. California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete that information, the right to opt out of any sale of personal information (we do not sell it), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. To exercise any CCPA right, email support@doorguard.app.

7. Data Retention

We retain account and booking data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to satisfy legal, tax, and audit obligations. After that, we delete or anonymize the data.

8. Security

We use industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords (bcrypt), and least-privilege access controls. No system is perfectly secure, if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

9. Cookies & Tracking

DoorGuard uses essential cookies to keep you logged in and maintain your session. We may use standard analytics tools to understand how the platform is used (e.g., which pages are visited most). We do not use advertising cookies or sell your browsing data to advertisers. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but doing so may affect platform functionality.

10. Geographic Scope

DoorGuard is intended for users located in the United States. If you are located outside the United States, please be aware that your data will be processed in the US and that we do not currently offer services compliant with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). By using DoorGuard from outside the US, you consent to this processing.

11. Children

DoorGuard is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
